Tuesday, November 12th will be the Highlands Ranch Photo Club annual meeting and election. This is going to be a very important meeting. We will not only discuss future programs and have our annual election, but most importantly, discuss the very future of our club. Do the club members want to continue with this club, support future participation and growth? Are any members willing to step up to lead this club for the next year with a vision that will make the club worth continuing? If you care about the future of our photo club, please plan to attend and show your support.

Our club member, Bob Pinkham, will be present astrophotography, specifically ways to photograph the Milky Way at the October meeting.

Few people ever see the Milkyway during their lifetime and even fewer have photographed it.  If you live in Colorado and you own a Digital camera that has a manual mode, you can join those who have photographed the Milkyway.

At the October Highlands Ranch Photo Club meeting you’ll hear about techniques that will make it easier to capture the beauty of the night sky with information on When, Where, and How’s of capturing the Milkyway.  You will have to provide the why.

Our vice president, Joe Bonita will be presenting “Images from the Seven Continents”. It is a display of photos Joe has taken in Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Oceania, Europe and North and South America, along with a commentary on where and how they were made.

June 11, 2019

Our Tuesday, June 11th meeting will be an outside event. Please bring your camera with you, as we will be going outside to Civic Green Park behind the library to find subjects to photograph. We will be meeting in Event Hall B upstairs in the Highlands Ranch Library at 7:00, but you can start shooting photos in the park earlier, if you like. We will return to the meeting room at 7:30 and take turns sharing some of the photos that we took. I will bring a multi-card reader, so we can hopefully accommodate every kind of card. This activity is about trying to get a small number of quality photos, not a high number of rushed photos. There is no subject theme. If you need assistance with camera settings, someone will be able to help you.

The February meeting will have a presentation by Joe Bonita about image sharpening and sharpness.

The program will cover the inherent lens issues that impact
sharpness including diffraction.  Joe will go on to cover depth of field and how to calculate it and will suggest ways of dealing with extreme situations.  Also discussed will be the effects of image size and viewing distance on the perception of sharpness.  Finally, he will give examples of various image sharpening methods and provide links to 3rd party sharpening software.
